About Us

Welcome to the digital home of Lo Fi Three.

Like us, the page is a work in progress, but here is what we know now:

Lo Fi Three is:

John Rago: Pots and Skins

Dave Arntsen: Phat String Bender

Gregory Antone Hicks: Mercy, Mercy.

lofi3 plays experimental blues rock music. As the site develops we will offer more on who we are and what we do, but a short bio would read something like this:

Greg and Dave have been playing music, together and apart, in various incarnations (Pearl, Better Angels, Ham Fatchit), for 30 some odd years. They have written, together and apart, over 150 songs. Together and apart they have been influenced by nearly every musician and artist they have ever heard or seen.

John and Dave met through a musical friend and played together on some of Dave’s solo music and in the Craig Manganello Band. In 2007, as Dave and Greg rekindled their artistic brotherhood yet again, John was a natural to keep the beat.

For a while the band played it close to the vest, getting to know each other on Stevie Ray, Hendrix and some traditional blues. In the summer of 2008, Dave’s life was irrevocably altered by his attendance at Camp Medeski Martin and Wood, a band John and Dave had come to know and love.  When he returned from the woods to Lo Fi, his newness seemed to reignite Greg’s dormant experimental streak, and the band expanded into previously uncharted realms.

The future is bright.
